Tracking Comments Explained
- "Posting/Collection" means the parcel has been accepted at the original countries' post office.
- "Departure from outward office of exchange" means the parcel has left the original country.
- "Arrival at inward office of exchange" means the parcel has arrived destination country's import customs office. Once the import customs clearance is done, the parcel will be delivered by destination country's postal service company.
- "Item returned from Customs (import)" means your package has been cleared and is released from the import customs. It will then be sent to your local post office for delivery. Next possible state: Departure from inward office of exchange.
- "Departure from inward office of exchange" means that your package has cleared your country's customs office and is now on its way for your local post office for delivery.
- "Held by Customs" means your package is currently with the customs authorities and is being assessed for import duties and local taxes. Depending on the country, these taxes may need to be paid prior to the package being delivered.
- "Arrival at delivery office" means your parcel has arrived the destination post office.
- "unsuccessful delivery" means that the parcel could not be delivered.
- AT OFFICE OF EXCHANGE OUT - The item is at the national office of exchange and is on its way out.
- AT OFFICE OF EXCHANGE IN - The item is at the national office of exchange.
- AT DELIVERY OFFICE IN - The item is at the destination post office.
- ATTEMPTED DELIVERY - First notification to client.
- AT CUSTOMS - Item held at Customs. Please contact Customs on +27 11 961 6000 or if requested, send your invoice or proof of purchase

- BULK ACCEPTANCE - Bulk mailer items acceptance scans.
- COMMENT, DISPATCH NUMBER - Comment left by scanner with a dispatch number.
- COMMENT - Comment left by scanner.
- CARD LEFT - A card was left for the client
- DOC CALL - Item was recalled (eg. misrouted or delayed etc.)
- DETENTION NOTICE - SARS/Customs requires proof of purchase or invoice to clear the item - Please email the invoice to jimcinvoicerequired@postoffice.co.za
- DELIVERED - Items has been delivered to client.
- FINAL DELIVERY - Final notification to client.
- FINAL NOTIFICATION - Final notification sent to client.
- FIRST NOTIFICATION - First notification to collect item sent to client.
- HELD AT CUSTOMS - Customs is busy with assessment of your item.
- ITEM OUT POST OFFICE - Item left original post office.
- INSERT ITEM INTO BAG IN - Item was accepted at original post office.
- INSERT ITEM INTO BAG OUT - Item was inserted into a bag and is on its way out.
- IN TRANSIT - Item on its way to the destination office.
- IN OFFICE - Item at destination office.
- INCOMING INTERNATIONAL - Item at International Mail Centre.
- OTHER - Personnel who should deliver the item, can leave a comment on why the item was not delivered.
- RETURN ITEM FROM CUSTOMS - The item is in process for inspection/assessment at the International Mail Centre.
- RETURN TO SENDER - The item has been returned to the sender.
- RETENTION - Item withheld/in retention.
- SENT TO DEL OFFICE IN - Item was sent to destination post office.
- TO CUSTOMS - Item at Department of Customs for inspection at International Mail Centre.
- TO DOH - Item at Department of Health for inspection at International Mail Centre.
